Back to BYS

Look beyond the obvious

BYS complements school with space for curiosity, purposeful exploration and reflection. Discovery is the current introductory family experience; Access and Guided are separate learning paths coming soon.

The shared foundation

More ways to learn are coming

Curated Bags. Focused resources. A private record of learning.

Access and Guided are separate future plans, not steps that a family must take after Discovery. Neither is open for paid enrolment in R1.

Across the year

A learning rhythm through the year

These future Access and Guided plans follow an annual rhythm. This is not the current Discovery activity calendar.

  1. April–December

    Standard BYS

Learners explore curated Bags, try ideas, share their work and reflect on what they discover.

  2. January–March

    BYS Reflect Forward

Continuing learners reflect on their journey and share challenges for guidance. No new Bags, Coins or reward actions during this period.

The experience in practice

What does the learner actually do?

  1. A Bag gives learning a purpose

A Bag is a curated challenge, activity or mini project. A learner might investigate a question, build something or explain an everyday decision.

  2. A Curiator helps thinking move forward

BYS Curiators guide conversations, ask useful questions and offer limited hints. They help learners consider a next step without doing the work for them.

  3. The work tells the story

Attempts, explanations and revisions build a private record of learning. Progress is described through evidence—not ranks, labels or public comparison.
